Volunteer
Opportunity: Justice for New Americans Details: J4NA is seeking volunteers
who are wish to build up their actual work experience while attending
colleges. We are looking for individuals who are interested or even
passionate about working with civil right and human rights issues. J4NA is a
new and start-up nonprofits. Our work is not just exciting and challenging
we are making marks in the field of civil rights for New Americans.
Types:
A. Positions at our Hayward office (2-4 hours per week)
- Programs and Operations Intern -Time requirements for these tasks are
flexible, ranging from 1-4 hours per week. We can provide training for these
volunteer tasks: - bookkeeping, accounting and other general office work
such as providing support to board meetings and follow-up support with
tasks.
- Marketing Intern - Time and tasks are negotiable, based on interests. -
Public relations strategy and activities - Research funding opportunities -
Assist with grant writing and news release - Assist with press conference.
Database maintenance for potential donors - Support to Board member
fundraising activities
- Information and Technology Intern Time and tasks are negotiable, based on
interests. - Assist with maintenance of our computer equipment, website
maintenance, email list server update and maintenance. Assist volunteers and
staffs with computer and email problems. Redesign website function - Setup
and/or train volunteers on using software, such as donor databases,
financial software, etc.
- Graphic Design Intern Time and tasks are negotiable, based on interests. -
Design a logo that reflects our multicultural focus - Create a color/design
scheme for agency materials - Design invitation, postcard, thank you card.
Redesign website "look and feel"

- Data Entry - PC experience required

B. Any time, anywhere, by email (4-6 hours per week)

- Website maintainence (Dreamweave experience preferred)
- Fundraising and fundraising support
C. Committee members/volunteers (average 5 hours weekly)
- Case Review Committee
- If you are an attorney getting tired of devoting the majority of your waking hours to legal work that protects the interests of corporations and conglomerates, then we want to talk you.
- If you have a strong sense of right and wrong, we want to recruit you to be on our case review committee. (The only requirement is that you have to have some experience working with attorneys and do not mind reading court proceedings).
- Public Communication - marketing professionals, copywriters, web designers, graphic designers, writers, journalists or anyone who has strong writing skills.
- Fundraising - Event organizers, advertising professionals, fund developers, campaign types or anyone who can tell a good story.
- WenHoLee documentation - writers, journalists, video producers, historians or anyone who is passionate and wants to be a part of Dr. Wen Ho Lee's documentary.
